Maiden Speech Festival launched in 2017 with an amazing collection of theatre productions by talented women, the majority of which were LBQ. In 2018 we're excited to say that they're back with new productions.
Shows created by LBQ women include Roxane Bourges' Sincerely, Jodie, Katie Paterson's Minor Disruptions and Kayla Feldman's Hear Me Out. Sincerely, Jodie features openly queer characters and Minor Disruptions was created using a queer theoretical lens.
I was lucky enough to be contacted by Christina Bloom, the star and creator of Inside Out and invited along to her first performance of her first play. I have to be honest, the bar for LBQ-themed performances in London has been rising steadily for the past 4-5 years (see from recent reviews of Turkey and Bullish from the past fortnight alone), however I didn't set any expectations as I reminded myself that this was Christina's debut.
