Cressida warms you up with Mulled Wine

One of the favourites for a winter cocktail and also a very simple one to create. Mulled wine has been around since the second century in ancient Rome. This is a drink that was brought to our shore by the Romans and also takes on many different names and forms in other countries. This is a fantastic drink to keep you warm in the cold winter months.

  • 1 bottles of red wine
  • Sugar
  • Bourbon whiskey
  • Bay leaves
  • Orange peel
  • Mixed spice
  • Cinnamon sticks

Mulled Wine recipe from Cressida LawlorFirst start by taking a large saucepan and putting it on a medium heat on your cooker. Pour the bottled of red wine into that pan and let it warm for 5 minutes.

Proceed to add two and a half table spoons of sugar and mix it into the wine until you cannot feel any granules at the bottom of the pan.

Add four large pieces of orange peel from an orange and then three bay leaves, stir for thirty seconds and then add a tea spoon of mixed spice then continue to stir.

Afterwards add two to three cinnamon sticks and a shot of bourbon then lower the heat and let the mixture even out for 5 minutes.

To finish pour into a glass of your choosing.
