Over the past few years there has been a huge craze on eating low fat, but recent studies and science have shown that eating fat does not necessarily create the fat that grows on our body. Now I know the summer time is approaching which means going to L Fest, the beach, or Pride and we all want our bodies looking nice and toned so let’s get into the truth about fat and how it can actually be beneficial in weight loss.
Now I am not telling you to go out and get McDonalds everyday or munch on crisps and chips but there are many healthy fats out there like nuts, avocados, olive oil, coconut oil, fatty fish (mackerel, salmon, tuna, sardines), eggs, and seeds just to name a few. So here is some of the good news ladies eating healthy fats will help you achieve optimal body composition. Here are just a few benefits from eating healthy fats:
Fat fills you up
Fat fills you up so you end of eating less. Especially when fat is paired with a protein it can curve hunger and cravings
By decreasing carb levels and replacing it with healthy fat you can improve insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation and support your metabolism. We will talk about this in another blog but the yo-yoing between our insulin levels is actually what makes us gain weight and have sugar cravings so the more we can keep our insulin levels stable the leaner we will be.
Omega 3 levels support thyroid hormone functions, which is a hormone closely involved in body fat regulation.
Impact at the gym
Also for those of you ladies that like to hit the gym having more beneficial fat in your diet produces muscle gain with training because it supports hormone balance and recovery from intense exercise.
Low fat = high sugar
Research has shown that eating healthy fat helps you loose fat. It is a big myth to go low fat. Most low-fat food products replace the fat with carbs or sugar, which in the long run will actually make you gain weight
Eating healthy fats is better for brain function, mood and allows for less rick of depression…. WAHOOOO! You heard it eating healthy fats makes you smarter this is because our brain needs essential fatty acids for cognitive brain function.
Also eating healthy facts allows us to absorb the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, which are great for skin and eye health
Eating healthy fats can help reduce cholesterol. Eating saturated fat does not increase blood triglyceride levels, but carbohydrates do. High blood triglycerides cause inflammation and plaque buildup in the arteries, increasing heart disease risk.
Lower risk of cancer
Lastly eating “good” fats as a part of a diet that optimizes macronutrient intake for glucose management and decreased inflammation will help reduce cancer.
Wow as you can see eating healthy fats has loads of health benefits. It is crazy that over the past 20 years this whole low fat diet crazy was wrong and in some cases lead to obesity because to create those low-fat foods fat was being replaced with sugar which in the end leads to weight gain.
I am not telling anyone to go out and eat a fatty greasy burger but stick to the healthy fats and see that waste line trim down. My suggestion is just eat a healthy fat with every meal and see what happens…. But let’s start things off right so suggestion is to start with licking some avocado off some sexy girl’s neck…. Not only will you be eating a healthy treat but also you might get laid in the process. I mean who said healthy eating couldn’t be sexy?
