Looking to lounge and dine in a lady-loving environment? You need go no further than Labels.
A sparkling entrance under a beautiful clear sign and a welcoming front of house hostess was all that was needed to entice us into a cosy, inviting dining room.
Exposed brickwork and wall mounted candles cast shadows on unusual, creative, almost tattoo type artwork.
To my utter joy there was not a topless poster in sight.
Bubbly waitresses greeted us with a warm smile and a cocktail menu, and we were off. Starting with a Porn Star, a cocktail, unfortunately not an hors d’Oeuvre! Totally yummy it stood out amongst the rest of the cocktails which we sampled modestly, I keep telling myself that but my head tells a slightly different story.
Beautifully presented samples of the menu started to grace our table. Perfectly cooked rib-eye steak with a barbecue and cheese topping, chicken breast stuffed with a flavoursome mushroom truffle mousse and tender lamb chops all went down a treat. These were followed by a chargrilled salmon fillet with homemade chunky chips, simple but delicious.
The final dish was an intriguing cinnamon chicken, which was well received. The after taste was reminiscent of dessert. This is an absolute must, to savour how the flavours marry. I found it left one craving a sweet to round off the evening.
The dining room was organised in such a way to give a feeling of spaciousness that allowed for private conversation but was intimate enough for flirtatious glances. The waitresses were most attentive and a cocktail side show by the barman, complete with sparklers, showed a masterly command of shakers and rhythmic moves. The atmosphere was enhanced by the super talented Faye Patton and Miri. It made for a complete sensory experience.
I look forward to taking a group of friends to enjoy lush cocktails and very palatable food. Next time I shall try dining in one of the attractive alcoves, while listening to great artists. We shall no doubt shake our tail feathers to beat loving Djs by the end of the night. Labels also however, has the kind of atmosphere that I would happily bring family to introduce a new partner in a relaxed, understated lesbian dining experience to luxuriate in.
