Making History - Modern LGBT London

In association to LGBT History Month, Ultimate Planet, Southwark LGBT Network and Southwark Council, Planet London are proud to host this special one-off event.

A film screening specifically aimed at a lesbian, bisexual, queer and trans women's audience (cis and trans men welcome as guests) of 2 modern London based films that represent our contribution to history from this moment.

The venue is open from 3pm until 11pm and has a delightful dinner menu if you wanted to enjoy a bite to eat with friends before the event.

Film 1 - {Brace} (2013, short)

Brace PosterOn his first foray out onto London's thriving gay scene, newly single Adam meets Rocky, a handsome and mysterious drifter, with whom he shares an instant and undeniable chemistry. From the outset, Rocky is eager to reveal more of himself than Adam is ready for, and so the two maintain an uncomfortable pact of silence. As the pair grow closer, something has to give, and the truth about Rocky is explosively revealed. As the dust settles, the men are left to decide whether they can find acceptance in each other, by facing the truth about themselves.

Film 2 - stud Life (2013, feature)

Stud Life PosterJJ is a Black Lesbian, ‘Stud’. Together with her best friend, Seb, a white gay pretty boy, they work as wedding photographers. Their clients are wide, weird and wonderful. JJ and Seb are both looking for love but in the wrong places. So, when JJ falls in love with the beautiful and mysterious Elle, JJ and Seb’s friendship is tested for the first time as JJ has to choose between her hot new lover and her best friend. Seb rejects the flirtatious advances of their local drug dealer Smack Jack as Seb is too busy lusting after a straight-acting man, Manchester Joe, who he found on Gaydar. London-set Stud Life is a sexy, young and cool gay romance taking a unique look at a slice of British urban life.

The afternoon will start with free canapés and networking. Drinks are available from the bar (cash and card accepted).

Canapés will include vegetarian options. If you have any additional special dietary requirements such as vegan or coeliac please let us know and we will see what the venue can do.
